It’s always nice, when alumni decide to come back to their alma mater, to get married. Campus weddings, always have sentimental value. They also offer a lot of variety to the photographs. I met Whitney and Kevin, a few years ago, when Whitney was a bridesmaid, in another wedding. The last few years, Purdue has been shutting down and closing up buildings, a few days before the holidays. I had Whitney double check the schedule since they were flying in from DC, right before Christmas. Luckily, we were able to get into the Union, Mackey Arena, and a few other buildings, before they closed at 5PM on Friday. We hurried around campus, so that we could make the best of the time that we had. Unfortunately, they had already taken the Christmas tree out of the PMU, so we didn’t get any real holiday pictures, but we found a wreath or two along the way.
It was especially nice, to run into Von’s Bookstore, for a few minutes at the end of the session. It’s kind of surprising to me, that I haven’t been asked to shoot inside of Von’s before. I’ve gone into various libraries around campus, and I’ve shot in bookstores in other places around the country, but it was nice to shoot in a place that was once in my backyard. I also think that it’s an awesome shop, where I have purchased a lot of music over the years.
I’m going to take a little time off for the holidays, after I finish making one last wedding album. This is the time of year, that wedding photographers have downtime, so I’m going to also use it wisely, cleaning gear, and backing up equipment. I’ll likely work on some personal work in the next month or so as well.
Thanks to all of my couples, for a great 2018. See you soon!
