Jen and I have known each other for years. It’s seriously crazy how our paths have intersected and I’m super excited about shooting her wedding in Chicago, this June. She was the officiant at two weddings that I have shot. First, she was in Florida, at Stephanie and Brian’s wedding, in the France pavilion, at EPCOT. She then officiated, her best friend, Lindsay’s wedding, in Indiana, a year later. Shooting a Washington DC engagement session during Cherry Blossom season was a blast! We planned this shoot months in advance, and I’m glad that we went with later rather than sooner, expecting mother nature to continue to drop snow. It was a bit touch and go up until the last few days, but we ended up with perfect weather, with bright blue skies!
When Jen talked to me about the cherry blossoms, I was super excited, but seeing them in person, was amazing. We were also out there mid-week, which made the crowds a little smaller than what they would be like on the weekend. We started out, early in the morning, on the National Mall. Personally, I loved the Jefferson Memorial. I have been to DC before, but I had not been to Jefferson and it was the a great place to shoot. We ended up all over the DC area, visiting the gorgeous National Arboretum, CityCenter DC, and Blagden Alley. I’m seriously thinking about moving to DC to just be near the National Arboretum. It is about the most peaceful place that I have ever been. We also stopped off for lunch at Union Market, where I had some very delicious bbq. It’s located in a very industrial area, in the northeast area of town. Very cool location and great food.
Can’t wait for their wedding in Chicago, in June!
